Androstenedione

Consumer Review: Androstene And Creatine Have Given Me Increased Stamina, Mass, And Sunburns.
I've been taking Androstene and creatine for over two months and have noticed great increases in both stamina and mass along with an increase in sunburns. I spent four hours in the sun Saturday playing golf and burned my neck and forearms. Yesterday, Wednesday, I spent about three hours in the sun wearing a tank-top and burnt my back, shoulders, and triceps. Normally this exposure to the sun would not cause these types of problems. The only thing I can figure is that one or both of these supplements has some sort of "sun side effect." Has anyone else experienced similar problems? I would appreciate any input.

I have also experienced the same. I only spent 2 hours in the sun and got sunburnt, normally I can stay longer without sunscreen but after taking andro and creatine for a couple of weeks my skin got burnt easily even though I had sunscreen on.

Response #2
Because I have just begun taking creatine, I have not noticed the reported increases in stamina yet, but I can relate to the photosensitivity issue. I took my lunch break outside today, and over the course of the half hour I look like a tomato. My face and neck are flushed and I don't know if I will continue using this supplement (at least not until it's winter) because of this troublesome side effect.

I've taken creatine for about 2 years on and off and have never had anything like that happen to me "because of creatine". What do you think 3 hours in the sun is going to do? Make you catch a cold? The sun is hot! It puts off heat and rays of radiation, and your skin can only take so much of these things! I work at a GNC and have never heard of that happening "because of creatine" in all the time I've worked there! I have friends that take this supplement who play football and have to stay outside in the sun for long periods of time and not one has ever complained of being sunburned because they take creatine! And if you get burned using sun block...use a stronger one! Sure, it's real easy to say "Oh, I'm taking creatine now, and oohh, my skin is getting burned!" Its just as easy to say "I ate Chinese last night, and my skin is really sensitive today!" So, before you open your mouth just think! Just stop and think!

Well, I don't think it is creatine, but it may be the andro or the combination of the two. There are also what is mixed in the supplements. Some andro supplements also have yohimbe. That makes the blood vessels enlarge. That may do it. There are many factors that may cause this.

I think the person who wrote response #3 should read the whole article before telling the person to think about what he is complaining about. If you would have read the article you would have known that he's not saying that it's the Creatine that is making his skin sensitive, it is the combination of creatine and andro that is making his sun burn. Your response has given me a whole new outlook on the quality of workers they employ at GNC.
