Consumer Review: My Husband Takes 19-Nor And Creatine Monohydrate And Is Short Tempered And More Sexually Frustrated.
|
My husband has been taking a product called 19-Nor which contains per dosage:
19-Nor-Androstenedione 100mg
Androstenediol 100mg
Androstenedione 100mg
He takes 2 dosages a day.
He also takes Mega Creatine which contains: 1200mg Creatine Monohydrate. He has been taking both of these (among other things) every day for 3 months without working out. (He just started up again 2 nights ago). I have noticed mood swings in him. He is very short tempered and more sexually frustrated. He doesn't notice this.
I am trying to find some documented research about both of these supplements. Does anyone know where I can get some information on them to get my husband to stop taking them?

| My boyfriend was taking creatine and I didn't know it until a recent near-violent mood swing. He basically scared the hell out of me and when he went to a doctor and told him what happened, he said that mixing alcohol and creatine caused the violent temper that has never been there before.
I have known him over a year and nothing like this has ever remotely happened - apparently he just started taking it a month ago. Also, I read somewhere else on this web site that someone had their testosterone level double because of taking it. Creatine is not for everyone and I hope you find out more about it. Let me know what you do find - my boyfriend stopped using it but now I'm curious to know what else there is to it.

Creatine CANNOT raise your TESTOSTERONE levels. Creatine is a naturally occurring substance found in meets and fish. Androsteadiol although, is specifically intended to raise a persons testosterone levels. Please think carefully before you confuse the two. Creatine simply helps the body produce energy levels by aiding in the synthesis of ATP, the basic source of energy your body needs to function.

| Direct your husband to http://www.nutritionalsupplements.com/rage.html and if he still doesn't believe you, well, good luck with him.
P.S. Why is he taking all that crap if he doesn't even work out?

Your husband needs to cycle this product. 3 weeks on and 2 to 3 weeks off.

Your husband should not be taking these sorts of suppliments if he is not working out. The supplements he is ingesting will alter his personality.

I have been working out for 4 years and have been taking Creatine for 3.5 years at 5,000-7,000mg per day and have experienced nothing but great benefits from it. I know many other people at the gym who use it and none of them have experienced any negative results. I also know a couple of other guys who are using 19-Nor-Androstenedione, Androstenediol, and Androstenedione with and without Creatine and they haven't experienced any negative results (mood swings, etc.) either.

The Nor-Andros can cause a decline in a person's sex drive. On the other hand, Androstenediol can actually increase your sex drive. It is considered to be the best of the pro-hormones because of its higher testosterone conversion ratio and its inability to convert to estrogen. Anytime you increase testosterone levels, you run the chance of negative androgenic side affects (mood swings, balding, acne, etc.).

Just wanted to add something to response #7. Androstenediol does have the ability to convert to estrogen. That is even documented by one of the makers of 4 Androstenediol--Substrate Solutions. In fact, Substrate produces a product that helps limit the conversion to estrogen and recommends its usage with the 4 Androstenediol. That's all.

I have been taking Andro/Trib/DHEA and find that it increases sexual desire and does make me more aggro. I wasn't very aggressive to start with, so for me it is probably a good thing. I haven't hit anyone or anything like that, just been more assertive generally. It has also helped in increasing my shoulder measurements. All this I put down to increased testosterone. However, I think that for some people, the increase in testosterone might lead to behavioral problems and possibly even sexual aggression.

Everyone will react differently to supplements. As for myself, I am taking andro and creatine and vanadyl sulfate. I have noticed that, from time to time, I do get agitated easier then usual. Creatine has been known to have some strange side effects. One of my friends had a physical while on creatine and the doctor thought that he had severe liver damage due to the high creatine level in his blood. Another one of my friends had some heart problems. He actually had heart palpation irregularities while taking creatine. I think that if anyone is taking supplements, they should still get checked out by their doctors to make sure that everything is OK. Why take the chance? People do not realize how sensitive the human endocrine system is. It's like the environment. Every action has a reaction.

Creatine makes the muscle retain nutriments, and should not have anything to do with a person's mental character. Alcohol alone can change a person's mood without the help of any other agent. I have taken all sorts of Andro combos with no such side-effects, except maybe a slowed down sexual drive, but then again, my wife needs a break.
