Arginine

Question: What Are The Negative Side Effects Of Arginine?
Please could someone tell me about the negative side effects of taking the amino acid arginine. My sister has recently started to take them and I would like to be well informed to tell her about the side effects good and bad.

Answer #1
L Arginine is used by many body builders as a human growth hormone releasing agent. In doses larger than 10-12 grams a day it produces an increase in H.G.H. production. It is not recommended for people under 22 years of age. Your body has a genetic blueprint which it adheres to, so there is debate whether or not to use something which can change that blueprint. In an article I read printed in the Australian Ultrafit magazine, L Arginine taken to produce optimal H.G.H. production can create levels in a 95-year old man comparable to a 16 year old. L Arginine is also known to induce herpes 1 and 2 and gastro intestinal problems.
