Cartazyne

Question: Do You Have Any Info On Cartazyne?
Do you have any info on Cartazyne used for arthritis? Cartazyne Sciences International or Serotril Sciences International is advertising it.

Answer #1
The only information I could find comes from a message board and is listed below:

The famous (infamous) Serotril Sciences International is now sending out flyers for an arthritis cure called Cartazyne DS (double strength). The 800 number shows the company working under the name of "Cartazyne Arthritic Formula", but the customer service number says it is Serotril Sciences. It would be wonderful if the information on the flyer were true. My wife really needs it for the arthritis in her finger joints. Where can I find some truth regarding this preparation or "natural ingredients"?

I have talked by phone, at his home in Rancho Mirage, CA, with Dr. Leonard Rappoport who formulated CartazyneDS. Dr. Rappoport told me Cartazyne has condroitin and glucosamine as its principal ingredients with other ingredients that strengthen cartilage and make it smoother. The smoother the cartilage in the joints, the better they work. Both can and are legally advertised as cures for arthritis. (See the supplement shelf at your pharmacy).

Other substances are added to increase the slipperiness of the joints. The brochure cites at least a dozen studies published in peer review journals to substantiate its claims. Dr, Rappoport, the developer of CartazyneDS is a retired surgeon, who saw that their must be a better way than joint replacement. His research was wide ranging, and covered some of the same ground that others covered in recommending condroitin and glucosamine for arthritis.

I have not taken CartazyneDS, but have found almost immediate relief from chronic tennis elbow with the two main ingredients. When the supply I have from my drug store runs out, I will order the Cartazyne from The Arthritis and Joint Disease Center in Vancouver, BC. The chances are that it will be very helpful, and that It can do no damage.

The doctor in my pamphlet about Serotril was Dr. Jean-Paul Rappaport, Paris, France. Is this coincidence or what? Hmm. Sounds fishy to me.

Answer #3
Cartazyne has not helped my arthritic knees a bit. I have tried to get Cartazyne Sciences International to make good on their money back guarantee. They suggested contacting their distributor (Nutritional Fulfillment) in Las Vegas, Nevada. I have been waiting 10 weeks with no reply. Now, they won't answer the phone. Do you have any suggestions?

Thank you

I have had left knee problems for 4 years. The doctor told me that I needed knee replacement. He also told me to take chondroitin and glucosamine. I also have osteoarthritis in my neck. The pills seemed to help my neck and other areas, but did not help my knee. I went to another doctor and he did an arthroscopy and fixed my knee. A much better way to go. Sounds like you need a doctor that can tell you the problem. However, I definitely think that the pills are helping the other areas.

First, as a pharmaceutical chemist I would never consume any substance without having knowledge of the specific ingredients. If they don't say what it is don't buy it. Second, the most common arthroscopic surgery on the knee, the meniscectomy, most often results in a pain free joint for several years but can be followed by osteoarthritis. Third, I personally noted no benefit from either Glucosamine or Chondroitin but appear to have benefited from Collagen II.
