Does chitosan really work for weight loss? Are there any negative side effects?
Answer #1
Chitosan blocks the absorption of fat. Possible side effect can be vitamin deficiency because vitamins K, A, E, and D are all fat soluble vitamins. If you take this for weight loss, make sure you replenish all fat soluble nutrients your body needs to stay healthy.
Answer #2
I have taken chitosan for three months straight, about 750 mgs 1/2 hour before a meal and I see no difference in my appearance.
Answer #3
Chitosan will only work if you are consuming a diet high in fats, and that's why you put on, or are retaining fat. As mentioned above, make sure you get the proper amounts of vitamins, and substituting with EFAs is a good idea. Flaxseed oil would be a good, inexpensive way to do this.

Answer #4
I have to say yes it does. I am a diabetic and my blood sugar was 215 (avg. is 9--120), and was taking 40 units of insulin twice a day. After taking Chitosan for 4 days my blood sugar dropped to 107, and I lost 53 lbs. in 3 months. But like the others have said you must take other vitamins to replenish the good fats that Chitosan has absorbed. But I notice that the capsules act much better and faster than the tablets.
