| Within 1 hour of taking my first dose of Chromium Picolinate, I began to suffer from a severe headache which worsened greatly as time passed. The bottle I purchased at my local health food store suggested two to three tablets one hour before each meal, so I took two more before lunch. Within 30 minutes, I realized that the tablets must be the cause of my headache and not sinus pressure as I had previously believed.
My headache worsened to the point I begged my husband to take me to the doctor. He was extremely concerned. The nausea and severe pain I described sounded like a migraine, but at 33, I was much older than the normal onset for such headaches. Further examination revealed tenderness in the area of my kidneys, an inability to stand without wavering due to dizziness, and a rather strange reaction of my pupils when he shined a small light into my eyes. He sent me home for bed rest and lots of fluids on condition I not take any more Chromium Picolinate. I also had to come back the next day, by which time I was fine aside from feeling weak, as might be expected after such a terrible headache.
