Consumer Review: Creatine Gave Me A Surge In Stamina, But It Also Increased My Heart Rate And Kept Me Up At Night.
I've been on Creatine for a couple of weeks. I've noticed a definite surge in strength and stamina, especially with heavy bench and squats. Recovery time has increased as well, but the new miracle drug may not be so great. After an initial surge of good things, I'm starting to get really edgy. I've noticed random periods of jitters and I've been waking up in the middle of the night very tense with a fast heart rate. I don't know for sure that it is the creatine, but the only other thing I take is protein which has never given me any trouble in the past. And the problems have only started since I started taking creatine. I've read some of the other stuff in here and I'm starting to think maybe this stuff isn't what I bargained for. Maybe it is safer than some of the other stuff out there, but like anything, it affects different people in different ways. I don't know I want to keep taking the risks of long term damage for short term results which is what I keep hearing about creatine...a lot of water mass in the muscle that will go down when you stop taking it.

Finally, I found someone who is having similar side effects from creatine. It took me a while to track this down to creatine. I read about another guy not being able to sleep. That confirms all those side effects I have had and a reason to stop taking it. In my case, in the last 4 days I've been feeling extremely anxious and agitated. Hands shaking and sleeping 5 hours at best, while waking up frequently with panic attacks. It never struck me that the irritability I experienced after workouts was due to creatine. The latter manifestation of symptoms at the magnitude I experienced made me look into this further. If someone else has had similar experiences please let me know.
