Consumer Review: I Noticed Pain In My Arms And Shoulders After Taking Creatine.
I started taking Creatine back in may of 99. I took it for 2 weeks while I was starting a new workout program. Approximately on the 3rd week I noticed some bad pains in both my arms and shoulders. I now have been to the doctor several times and am now under the care of an orthopedic specialist who is trying me on yet another pill and stretching exercises.

I feel there is a lot more to my problem then simple tendonitis or bursitis, but am following my doctor for now. He has yet to order any more detailed tests on my arms as of the present but I am seeing him again on the first of September. Now my question is: has any research been done on negative results from creatine use other than the kidney problem that has been mentioned ? I feel as though my arms are progressively getting worse even after all the meds I've taken and all the stretching I'm doing. Thank You.

You have to realize the following when taking creatine: It will increase MUSCLE strength by approximately 10 percent, it does nothing for tendons, ligaments, and cartilage. So if you take creatine, and lift right away what your muscles can now lift, you are over exerting those other parts. You should space the increased weight over a few weeks to strengthen these other parts of the body.

I have experienced the exact opposite. I used to have severe shoulder pain. I took creatine and found that when doing the same workouts I had no pain at all. I am a little concerned about long term health effects so I take about half the recommended dosage every time they start to hurt (about three times a year) and after a couple of weeks it stops. When I don't take the creatine it takes months of very low intensity workouts.

Try working on form a little better, and don't increase weight too fast.
