Consumer Review: My Husband Had Severe Kidney Pain And Was Hospitalized Three Times After Taking Creatine.
I can tell you creatine is certainly dangerous. My husband took creatine to help him recover from a severe muscle injury three years ago. After taking the creatine, he experienced severe kidney pain and was hospitalized three times. He is still experiencing problems such as blood in his urine after three weeks.

The medical profession knows little, or nothing , about creatine and are unable to recommend what to do about it. Potential users should know, and this was confirmed by the store that sold it to us after the fact, that creatine is extremely hard on your kidneys. It is crucial that you drink a lot of water when taking it and you shouldn't take it all if you've had kidney stones or have sensitive kidneys (prone to infection). This was not indicated on the packaging and the store personnel did not mention at the time of purchase.

I have yet to find any studies about this product, but I don't think it should be sold over the counter until more tests have been done. This may have already seriously injured my husband, who was in good health other than his muscle injury.
