Consumer Review: Ephedra Sent My Blood Pressure Soaring And Bought Me A Trip To The Emergency Room.
I began taking an ephedra based product almost two weeks ago. At first, I had lots of energy and a suppressed appetite. I took less than half of the recommended dosage and felt safe as this product was touted as being "all natural, made with only plant sources and minerals, so there's no harmful side effects." I quickly felt as though my blood pressure was rising to an unhealthy level. I had it checked and was not surprised to find that it was quite high. I went off the product immediately. My blood pressure remained high for the next several days and I began having chest pressure and pain. I was sent to the ER and spent eight hours, and a lot of money, taking many tests. A heart attack was ruled out, however, there were "abnormalities" in my EKG. I am convinced that if I didn't have the presence of mind to quit the product, I could have severely injured myself or caused my own death. I am still felling the effects of the ephedra and wish that I had never put myself in this position.
