Ephedrine

Consumer Review: The Pharmacist Almost Attacked Me When I Went To Buy Ephedrine.
I went to the store to buy some ephedrine. Okay I'll be honest... I do a lot of illegal drugs including Ecstasy and Speed to get me up and ready for work/life basically. I have a history of anti-depressants that didn't work at all for me and the Ephedrine was said to have effects of weight loss and energy boosting. Since I feel drained all day every day I said "This is the drug for me." However, when I went to buy some, the pharmacist almost attacked me, yelled at me for wanting to buy it and almost refused to sell it to me before I told him it was none of his business why I was taking it and that he has no right to tell me I can't buy an over-the-counter legal drug like Ephedrine.

Well, I got it and I tried it and it seems to be doing the job... but why was the pharmacists so angry about me taking it?

I am 17 years old. Could it be my age or my history of anti-depressants? Maybe it's my psychological state that discouraged him. I am not to stable. Can someone please tell me what pharmacists have against this drug? I just need something to keep me awake during the day to give me energy. I work out, I swim... not really weight lifting, but I still feel a lag on my life. Ephedrine gets rid of that for me.

I would like more information... but all I can find on the net is not really helping to explain the brutality of the pharmacists or the looks I get when I ask for Ephedrine. It's only 15mg tablets and I take them about 3 times a day.

There have been a few deaths resulting from ephedrine. They make that "herbal ecstasy" out of it. Be very careful about dosages. Look for more information online about how much you should or shouldn't take.

I use varying types of Ephedrine and I find that the hippie types at a lot of Herb Stores and Health Food places are all against anything related to body building, especially ephedrine and creatine. Pharmacists are weird about it too, but I haven't had any freak out on me. I went to one and asked their opinion because I was taking Sportspharma's Thermogenic supplements and was curious why some other companies were big on being ephedrine or ma huang free. They basically said that ma huang and/or ephedrine (pretty much the same thing) are appetite suppressants and low level speed. When used in moderation they are OK. I use them (now I use Hydroxycut, but only have for a week so it is too soon to tell about it yet) because when I work-out I feel like I am moving in water. Very low energy levels and the ephedrine helped me a lot in that sense. I have lost a good amount of weight and I am beginning to see real results in my workouts.

How much of it were you trying to buy? Meth cooks make speed from ephedrine (chemically they're very similar) and he might have thought that you were going to do that. If you're doing speed then any risks to your health from taking ephedrine are the least of your worries.

I have used ephedrine for over two years now, and have never had a problem with it. I was just trying to find a way to purchase it online, rather than having to pick it up myself. I have a mild case of asthma and am also allergic to my cats at home. I take one dose every morning and have never had a problem.

Valerie,

It concerns me that you are using ephedrine and other illegal drugs to boost your energy. I understand completely that depression is extremely taxing, and often you don't feel as though you have enough energy to make it through the day. I believe it may help if you sit down with your psychiatrist and list the ways that your depression is affecting you. Different meds work on different neurotransmitters, and the ones you have tried may not work for your particular type of depression.

I personally have problems with a lack of energy and motivation from my depression, and realized that I was lacking the neurotransmitter norepinephrine. I began taking a medication that targets that neurotransmitter, and it has made the depression lift, and given me energy. Using drugs like speed, E, and ephedrine really tax your body and end up making depression worse -- did you know that E causes depression in people who aren't even depressed if they take it regularly?

Depression is a bitch, but I swear to you if you work hard at conquering the depression, the energy piece will fall into place and everything from your relationships to your concentration will improve. Even the meds you tried in the past might work if augmented by a second med. Find a good doctor, keep up the exercise, and good luck.

A lot of people I know who have been using Ecstasy for a while will take Ephedrine every now and then when they go out, instead of pumping themselves full of MDMA every weekend. When I lift weights, I use Creatine from time to time, but I cycle it so my body doesn't forget how to produce it on its own. What's the point? Anything taken in excess usually spells t–r–o–u–b–l–e. Unless you're under a doctor's care, don't take a drug everyday for "maintenance", your body will most likely develop a tolerance to it (at best), and it may cause long term problems. Mix things up and make yourself take some time off every now and then.
