Consumer Review: Glucosamine Gave Me Dizzy Spells That Could Have Led To Injury.
I recently took glucosamine capsules for about a week, totaling 1000-1500 mg per day. After the first week, I started having vertigo (dizziness). This seemed related to head motion and position, not to any systemic problem like low blood sugar (and my blood sugar has always tested normal). I have had a similar reaction to two antihistamines in the past. The dizziness was pretty bad sometimes, particularly when first lying down or doing turns in the swimming pool. I stopped taking the glucosamine about 4 days ago, and I am just about back to normal, thank goodness. I may start taking it again sometime to see if that was really the cause, but I don't have the guts to try it right now. A couple of times I lost my balance and could have been injured!
