Consumer Review: My Mother Recently Started Using Metabolife 356 And Noticed That She Is Losing A Lot Of Hair.
I am doing some research for my mother who recently started to use Metabolife 356. She also recently noticed she is losing a lot of hair and there is actually a bald spot on the side of her head! (Not noticeable, it's underneath the rest of her hair.) The only thing she can think of that she is doing differently is using this product. For the record, she is 45 and her hair is pretty thin to begin with.

I too lost some hair on my head. However, my hair loss was not minimal. I had a bald spot the size of a silver dollar. I went to my doctor and he injected steroids into my scalp and the hair grew back. I am not sure if Metabolife was the main factor. At the time of my hair loss, I was working full time, going to school at night, my wife was pregnant with our first child, and my elderly grandfather needed my help with his personal finances. Overall too much stress.

I have recently started taking M.356 and have noticed that my hair is falling out too. No bare spots, but quite a few hairs on the shower floor. At one time I had a thyroid problem and lost quite a bit of hair. I found out that a mercury toxicity problem was causing the thyroid problem and removal of my filings, a series of chelation treatments seemed to have cleared that up. I haven't lost hair again until I started using this product. There is the possibility that I am having more mercury freeing up and entering my system now that my metabolism has increased. I might just need more chelation. Just a thought.

I have lost a lot of weight before, and now I am on Metabolife. I noticed initially when the hair loss occurred that I had been losing weight rather quickly. I had gone to the doctor, who then stated that quick weight loss, stress, and vitamin deficiencies are all factors in hair loss. I am now losing weight again on Metabolife and have noticed some hair loss...but, the key is to eat a balanced diet along with taking the supplement. Best thing to do is to go to the doctor and find out if any major problems exist and find out what foods need to be added into the diet. At the time I went to the doctor, I had stopped eating meat and was very restrictive on fat grams.

I have been taking Metabolife for about a month and my hair is coming out in handfuls. It hasn't come out this fast since I had chemotherapy. It worries me and I plan to stop taking it.

I have been taking M356 and have noticed my hair falling out in larger amounts than normal, like in the shower and in my hairbrush. My Beautician commented on the hair loss when she was washing and cutting my hair also. I have heard that hair falls out in cycles, so I thought maybe that was it.

I had been taking Metabolife for 6 months and had noticed a severe hair loss when in the shower, and even all over my shirt. I have since had to get a hair cut. Since I stopped taking Metabolife my hair loss has stopped. I don't have any medical conditions that would cause my hair loss. Coincidental? Who knows.

I was taking Metabolife for about three months. Initially to lose a few lbs then for energy as I was fatigued. In retrospect I realize now I had significant hair loss. To make a long story short my dr. discovered thyroid nodules and I was tested with a very high TSH level. TSH is the hormone that increases your thyroid gland output and regulates your metabolism. I wonder if the Metabolife caused my now hypothyroidism (one of the symptoms is hair loss) It is possible for Metabolife to cause my thyroid to stop functioning properly if it has been artificially stimulated. I am now on permanent thyroid hormone replacement and may have to have surgery . I would appreciate any similar stories or input. Thanks

I have been on Metabolife for 32 months and lost 80 lbs. Now I have noticed a thinning of hair during the past 7-8 months, but most recently hair breakage six weeks ago. I have all the symptoms of "hypo"thyroid, but my blood work shows .65 as a reading which my doctor says is low normal!!! I stopped taking it two days ago and feel terrible. I have tingling on my head and also have stopped taking Lopid, which is also a hair loss causing drug. I did so well on the Metabolife, as it lowered my blood pressure and pulse and I have so much energy, but I love my hair and want to keep it. I am seeing a dermatologist in a couple weeks for more tests to get the hair back.

I went on a low/no fat diet two years ago. No supplements were used, just diet and exercise. I lost 25 lbs over the course of three months. And my hair fell out by the handful. Once I reintroduced foods containing some fat to my diet, the hair loss stopped. Common sense tells me that in order for our body to be healthy, we MUST feed it properly. Eliminating an entire food group, like the current low/no carb diet fad, isn't healthy. I've just begun taking M-356--so far no adverse side effects. However, I will continue to eat a healthy, BALANCED diet. It's all about portion control and intake control.
