Question: Why Did Hydroxycut Make My Boyfriend's Heart Start Pounding Really Fast?

| Hi, this question pertains to my boyfriend, who has been taking hydroxycut for at least 3 weeks. He takes the normal dosage of 12 pills in a day (4 pills/3 times a day). After he took the hydroxycut for a few weeks, his heart started to beat a lot harder. We both felt that wasn't normal so he has stopped taking it. But as soon as he stopped taking the hydroxycut, he complained of feeling drained and tired. Is it because of the lack of caffeine?
Well, the only pills he is taking now are Ginseng, which is a natural plant root. to get more energized. We both would really like to know why his heart did that and why he has been so tired. Please respond to my question (someone who knows a lot about it please). Also, he is an active person and he runs far distances once a week or so and works out. Is this any reason for his tiredness? Please get back to me on it.

It has ephedrine in it which makes him hyped, therefore increasing his heart rate.
