Question: I Have Lost All The Melanin From An Area On My Back. How Can This Happen?

I have lost Melanin in a patch on my back - does anyone know how this happened, or how it can be stopped? I am usually light-brown skinned, and now a pure white patch, the size of a thumbnail has appeared. Any assistance welcomed!
