Question: Is There A Substitute For Plaquenil That Is Effective At Treating Planopilaris, Hair Loss?
|
|
I am taking Plaquenil for lichens planopilaris (may be misspelled), which is an autoimmune disease in which my hair follicles are attached by my own body, resulting in hair loss. This has been a problem for a while, and is quite upsetting (I am a woman).
Plaquenil can cause eye damage and I am quite concerned. Is there a substitute for Plaquenil in this disease? If so, how do I get it, and I would appreciate your advising me on the cost.
Thank you

| Hello, I have Antiphospholiped Antibody syndrome. It too involves the immune system. It can attack the hair. I have hair loss too. I take Plaquenil 200mg twice a day. I don't know whether it's the disease or the medication. I'm about to lower the Plaquenil to once a day to see if the hair loss slows down. I am 36 female and don't like dealing with this either. My Doc. tells me it's not the plaquenil. She also thinks my hair loss isn't that bad. I haven't told her yet what I want to do. Have you found out anything? Let me know.
Thanks,
Missy
