Lipitor

Consumer Review: While Taking Lipitor, I Develped A Pain Under My Rib Cage.
I have been taking Lipitor for about 2 or 3 years. It was keeping my cholesterol under control. My doctor took blood tests every 2 to 3 months to check my levels. He had always said that I had a fatty liver, and I tried to keep a low fat/no fat diet, but the levels were always different. Sometimes they would go up, and then the next time they would come down to a normal reading.

About 10 months ago, I started getting pain on my right side under my rib cage. I went to see my doctor and he took a blood test. The liver levels were way to high. He sent me to a gastroenterologist. I started taking tests, such as a cat scan with contrast. They thought it was my gall bladder. Had all the symptoms. Had an endoscopy. Negative for gall stones. Had an ERCP to check bile ducts. Negative. Had a colonoscopy. Except for a small polyp, negative. Saw the surgeon. He ordered a sonogram. Negative. No gall stones. I have a fatty liver. Finally went to see another doctor, and after his examination of all of the tests, he came to the conclusion that I don't produce enough enzymes to help break down the fat in the liver.

I'm on a new medication now. No Lipitor. My sister-in-law told me about this website, and told me she had similar problems, even more than I have. She told me it was because of the Lipitor. If this is true, then more caution must be used when people take this medication. I am suffering with this. I do all the right things, and I am sick all the time from my liver. The doctor has said that I have a form of Hepatitis A. I have severe arthritis and have to take glucosamine chondroitin, ultram and other medications for high blood pressure and hormone replacement. It's like the old saying that the cure will kill you.
