I recently had a close friend diagnosed with a cancer. She lost a lot weight due to her condition. She simply could not eat, and when she did, it didn't stay down long. The doctors were telling us they could fight the cancer, but she had lost so much weight they didn't know if she could hold out for the surgery. Basically, she was starving to death.
In a way, marijuana saved her life. It allowed her to do the simplest of things, eat. She no longer detested the taste or smell of most foods. She could keep food down for the first time in weeks. Marijuana cured the one illness the doctors could not with modern day medicine (in fact, many of their drugs caused the problem). The THC gave her food cravings, one of marijuana's many side effects. She was lucky though, her friends had connections and were able to get this still illegal medicine. Many patients like her do not have those resources, and their doctors are powerless to supply it, fearing criminal charges. She could have died! But marijuana saved her.
How can we deny life to a person when there may be a solution? Why are doctors still being persecuted for prescribing cannabis sativa for medical purposes? Ask yourself these questions. Marijuana is a useful medicine. Maybe it shouldn't be allowed over-the-counter, but than again, beer causes hundreds of deaths each year and that drug is legal.
