Consumer Review: I'm Living Proof That There Is Nothing Chemically Addictive About Marijuana.
Let me tell you all something I really despise. People going around saying that they are ADDICTED to marijuana. These people are apparently very weak-minded. It is not the marijuana that they are addicted to, it is the HIGH that they are addicted to. Of all the drugs I know, the only one that causes a true chemical dependency is heroin. There is no chemical in marijuana that is in any way addictive. But alas, these weak-minded idiots continue to give the sweet chiba a bad reputation.

For years, I have smoked marijuana. Then, sadly, tragedy struck. My connection died from a heroin overdose (like I said, it's addictive). For about six months, I went ahead and cleaned out (for personal reasons), and not once did I have any shakes, blackouts, paranoia, delusions, nor any other symptoms of withdraw. I didn't even get irritable, as I did when I quit smoking. During this six month period, I was offered hits, joints and bags from my friends, but I wanted to stay clean for six months, so I turned them down. You might ask me how, but it is just like I said, MARIJUANA IS NOT ADDICTIVE.

Do I like smoking weed you ask? HELL YES! I love marijuana. I also love my family, my home, my job, sex, football, music, and most of all, PROVING PEOPLE WRONG!!! So believe me if you will, or don't. My decisions are mine, and your decisions are yours. I have a rather HIGH I.Q. (pun definitely intended), and am looking to complete my first novel. I've smoked marijuana for the past nine years, with one break of six months about two years ago. I am of sound mind and sound body, and never have I been addicted to any substance. Thank you for your time in reading this. Time to toke up!!!

I agree that Marijuana is not in and of itself chemically addictive. But I think that those "idiots", as you call them, are truly addicted, and it's not because they're idiots. I think that some people have addiction-prone personalities. When these kind of people start smoking weed, and they like it, they eventually become dependent on it. It can be addictive like anything that people like (food is the most obvious example that I can think of).

I think that the bottom line is that people who are "addicted" to marijuana have psychological issues they don't know how or are afraid to address, and weed helps them escape from those problems. I know because I have smoked weed regularly (by that I mean at LEAST once a day, but usually 3 or 4 or more) for about a year now, due mostly to depression. Prior to that, I had smoked recreationally for like 8 years. But during college, I became severely depressed, at times almost suicidal. Suddenly, a friend of mine started smoking me up, and it really helped me feel better about myself. But, the downside is that it is only helpful if you can always have it, which is not easy since it is so expensive and illegal.

I wouldn't say that I'm addicted, but I am just severely depressed without it. It doesn't hurt my ambitions and it only makes me lazy if I let it. In fact, I find that it's when I don't have any to smoke that I'm lazy. But gimme some weed and I'll do whatever needs to get done. But I can see how a different person in my shoes might see themselves as being addicted, since I don't want to stop. Bottom line is that weed alters enough of your mindset that it can be difficult to function without it when you get used to living your life high most of the time.

I must say that no one can say who is addicted to what. Yes, some people are addicted to marijuana and some can smoke it whenever and not have a problem. I don't see any problem with marijuana myself, but some do. In some cases, it helps you to concentrate and it also helps ease people's minds. It is something to do and it helps you have fun. I myself do it, as well as many others, and I am not addicted to it, but sometimes it helps relieve some of the stress that I have. Marijuana isn't bad, it is a naturally grown herb.

So yes, I believe that some people can get addicted and some don't, but all and all, honestly do you see any harm in it? Have you ever heard of someone getting killed because they were smoking and driving. It can't be that bad when there are worse things out there that hurt you a lot more that marijuana. THINK ABOUT IT!

I agree and disagree! I myself have been smoking weed on a pretty regular basis for about a year. I have never been addicted to it either. There have been periods of time that I will go without it and never have any withdrawal symptoms whatsoever. I have stopped for 2 months, I have stopped for 6 months, but the true fact is I LOVE SMOKING that sweet sweet mary jane. But on the other hand, like one of the other responses said, there are people who have addictive personalities and cannot help themselves, so we cannot rule out that people cant get addicted. It is just like cigarettes. I even tried to get hooked on those (when I was young and stupid) and I could not, but for a lot of people it only takes one time. Statistically, there is nothing in weed that is addictive, but mentally, in some people there is! Thanks.
