Consumer Review: Paxil Worked Great At First, But Then It Gave Me Headaches, Dizziness And A Horrible Reduction In Sex Drive.

| I had been taking Paxil for about 4 months and for the 1st two it worked great. The second 2 months were not so great. I experienced severe irritation, headaches and dizziness if I missed just ONE dose and even sometimes when I didn't forget one. Not just that, but I gained 10 pounds in about 6 weeks and was EXTREMELY tired all of the time. I experimented with it and found that I could function if I took it at about 8 in the evening. Anything earlier than that and I would be out cold in 2-3 hours. The absolute WORST side effect was the decrease in libido. Horrible! If your Dr. suggests an antidepressant, try Prozac or Celexa. I have taken the latter for 2 weeks now and feel great. No adverse side effects like with the Paxil, but time will tell on this one also.

Good luck Jen. I have taken paxil for 18 months now and it has done wonders for me. Except my sex life has gone down hill too. I used to be able to keep an erection as long as I wanted. But now, it only lasts for about an hour and I have trouble reaching a climax. I have started taking Ginko. I hear that helps with Paxil's sexual side effects, but I just started taking it so I guess time will tell.
