Consumer Review: Ativan And Aleve Help Battle The Withdrawal Symptoms From Quitting Paxil Cold Turkey.
|
| I had been taking Paxil for about 6 months at 20 milligrams. I decided to just quit cold turkey. I really don't know what the big fuss is about the symptoms. I am glad I quit cold turkey like I did. I took a large amount of Aleve, and this completely got rid of my pounding ALL DAY headache. I also was currently being prescribed an anti anxiety medication call Ativan. This made me a lot calmer and got rid of my mood swings. I became VERY, VERY violent when I got off the Paxil. I go to college at Troy State University in Troy, Alabama and came close to picking fights with a group of people who had made me mad a while back. I also just about demolished my dorm room by kicking in the refrigerator door and just about everything else over nothing. I had two bouts of uncontrolled crying even though I never suffered from depression before. I found out that the Ativan really helped to control my attitude during the withdrawal of Paxil.
The electric shocks through my head didn't really bother me at first. I thought they felt good. Then, about the third or fourth day, I got tired of them. After that, it felt like they would never go away. I've been off for about a month and still get them every once in a while. But looking back on my experience of Paxil withdrawal, I feel very lucky that I had Ativan to help return my mood to normal. I'm also glad that the high doses of Aleve helped my headache so much. I suggest seeing your doctor and asking him for Ativan to help you come off Paxil, buying yourself some Aleve, and just quit cold turkey to get the whole deal over with! Ativan is the only antidepressant I know that helps with anger. Xanax and alcohol seem to promote anger. It's also good for short term treatment of depression. It just seems to be the PERFECT medication to help you come off of Paxil.
I would really like to see how this helps your withdrawal symptoms. If you decide to come off of it this way, I would like to hear from you. I'm planning on taking Paxil again when I have a need for it, but I'm planning on increasing my dosage to 40mg or 50mg, and this amount will probably be A LOT harder to come off of. I would love to discuss dealing with Paxil withdrawal with any one.

| I want to thank you for letting everyone know about Ativan. I have not tried it, but I will ask my doctor about it tomorrow. I just quit taking my Paxil about four days ago, and I have been feeling like hell. So I looked up Paxil withdrawal and read all of the submissions that people have written. I cried because I am so scared that the withdrawal will last for over a month, like all of the other people say it did. I also wrote about my experiences, hopefully it will be posted, it's called Don't take Paxil- -- please read this!
I am 20 and a student. I have been making very bad grades and feeling soooo tired since I started taking Paxil. Now I am having all of the symptoms that everyone else has described from withdrawal. I slowly tapered off of the medicine, and I still feel terrible. I want to try anything to make these symptoms go away, so I will ask about Ativan. Do you know of any side effects or withdrawal caused by the Ativan? Please respond if so. Good luck to you in the future.
