Paxil

Consumer Review: Paxil Helped Me Overcome My Agoraphobia, But It Also Killed My Sex Drive And Gave Me Acne.
I tried Paxil for about 4-6 weeks. I'm not a social person, although I really want to be. Paxil did wonders for me. It gave me so much energy and made me high all day long, like I was on Ecstasy or something. Colors looked real bright and intense. Social situations were fun and made me high. Paxil gave me so much energy that I was waking up at the crack of dawn, full of energy, when normally I could sleep all day (some days I would sleep until 6pm). I had so much energy and confidence that I got a second job and started working out heavily every day.

I had two side effects. One was a feeling of being castrated. Looking at girls produced little to no libido response. They just looked like regular people. When I did find a girl in a magazine that was super sexually attractive, and tried to masturbate, it would take me 45 minutes to reach orgasm. OK, believe it or not, I could live with that side effect, only because the benefits of Paxil were awesome, But the second side effect was too much. Paxil caused me to get pimples on my shoulders first, and later on my face. I don't care how non-depressed, confident, and high on life you are, acne is an inexcusable side effect.

The next week, I went off Paxil in a comfortable environment and experienced no withdrawal symptoms, probably because I was only on it for 4-6 weeks. I'm reading that if you go on Paxil for like a year, you experience HORRID withdrawal symptoms. I guess that there is no privilege without duty.

Months later, I tried 7.5mg of Remeron for 2 days, but that made me so tired that I couldn't move, so I said to hell with it. Now I'm just on diet and exercise, and I hate social situations again, and I hate people that are laughing and having a good time. But while on Paxil, I was one of them. Now I don't have much confidence and I'll get mild depression form time to time.

My final recommendation for depression and agoraphobia is this: 20mg of Paxil daily for only a few weeks for a jump start or extra energy/confidence when you need it most. Expect some side effects. Don't stay on Paxil for more than 2-3 months because it is a poison, and I believe that all synthetic drugs are toxic in some way.

Response #1
In this past year, many changes have occurred within myself. My symptoms started out mild with a racing heart. Being peri-menopausal, I thought my symptoms were due to menopause. My doctor did very little to help me. I ended up in the emergency room on 2 different occasions because I thought I was having a heart attack. I became immobilized, hyperventilated, had chest pains and pure frantic crying episodes. I could not breathe. In my second trip to the ER, I was diagnosed with acute anxiety. The hospital informed me that I needed to be placed on medication. My doctor finally put me on paxil and for 5 months now, I'm able to laugh and have energy. My sex life died though. Now I need help with loss of libido. My husband does not understand this decreased drive.

Anyway, if I must have a choice, I know I can't live with panic attacks. My last one hit me at work and I suffered pure embarrassment. I knew after being in the ER twice, that I would survive the 3 hour attack....and when it finally passed, I looked like I came out of a washing machine. I wonder if I will ever be normal again without medication.
