| I totally agree that Paxil and gaining weight are directly related.
I started taking Paxil about 3 years ago. I now take 37.5 mg Paxil
CR. I weighed 115 pounds when I started and now weigh 160. Since
I started the medication, I have gained about 45 pounds.
I can't remember that my doctor ever told me about the side effects
of Paxil, or the withdrawal from it either. I can go two days
without it, but on the 3rd day, I feel like I have the flu. I
haven't experienced the "zaps" yet. I am currently trying
to wean myself of Paxil. I began the medication for anxiety and
I now have depression because of my weight problem. I sweat everywhere
I go, am extremely tired ALL the time, and I would much rather
take a nap than even THINK about working out at the gym!! I blame
it all on Paxil.
I will say that Paxil did cure my social anxiety issues, (temporarily),
until I put on weight. Now, I have anxiety around people again
(due to my weight), along with depression. It has really put a
strain on my marriage as well because my husband doesn't understand
what I am going through and how hard it is to get off it. He thinks
I am just lazy for not going to the gym and I always have an excuse.
I have discussed weaning off Paxil with my doctor, solely so
I can try to lose weight. I think I'll be okay with myself being
an anxious, but smaller, person. I am currently taking 25 mg daily
for 2 weeks, then I'll cut back to 12.5 for 2 weeks, and then
cut those in half for 2 weeks, then I'll be done completely. I
know I'll be going through a rough ride the next few weeks/months,
but I think it's totally worth it. I can't wait to fell better
about myself!!
I have done research also before wanting to quit taking Paxil.
I have read where some people start losing a few pounds within
weeks of being completely Paxil free. Even if I can only lose
half the weight, I will be a much happier person!
GOOD LUCK TO ALL OF YOU! I HOPE YOU WILL BE SUCCESSFUL GETTING
OFF THIS DRUG! (WISH ME LUCK TOO!)
