Consumer Review: Paxil Worked Great For A Week And Then It Gave Me Every Side Effect In The Book.

| My doctor placed me on Paxil four months ago for an anxiety disorder and high blood pressure. I experienced one week of feeling great and have had nothing but trouble ever since.
While taking 40 mg, I experienced symptoms of nausea, headaches, migraines, low libido, insomnia, severe nightmares, irritable bowel syndrome and tremors!!! I am now on 20 mg and still experiencing most symptoms. I could not complete a semester of school because I could not function normally.
All I can say is go with your gut instinct. I'm weaning myself off of this stuff. I am 25 and I refuse to live my young life taking medicine that doesn't work! I also have gained weight with this medication. I firmly believe that I need to make some life changes and take better care of myself: exercising on a regular basis and eating healthier foods. Your health is in your own hands. Sometimes you know what is best for your body and the doctor does not! Best of luck to all suffering from Paxil symptoms. I can relate!

I have been taking 20 mg of Paxil for over 2 years for migraine headaches and I have gained 20 pounds in that time. I was on Elavil prior to the Paxil, but that made me gain weight so the doctor switched me to Paxil. Evidently, Paxil is not supposed to cause weight gain but I disagree. I have been eating healthy and exercising but nothing works to get the weight off! I am 29 years old and I am slowing taking myself off the Paxil. My doctor told me that the weight gain was not coming from the medication so I am trying to find other people who have experienced this same side effect. I hope you find what works for you!

| I've been on paxil for about 2 months and I have definitely gained weight. I have gone from a size 4 to a size 6...none of my pants fit anymore. I was hoping that this side effect would go away, but now I am wondering. Anyway, I just thought I would respond to let you know that you aren't the only one.
