Question: My Doctor Keeps Prescribing Phentermine Even Though I Have Been On It For 5 Years. Is This Long Term Use Dangerous?
Is long term use of phentermine dangerous? I have been using it for 5 years off and on and the doctor still gives it to me. I am still about 10 pound overweight. I am getting worried about this long term use and I am too embarrassed to admit that I take this drug. Please advise me if this is dangerous?

I'm an EMT, not a doctor, but whether it's safe probably depends more on your other health conditions than anything else--like blood pressure, glaucoma, family history of illnesses. Any of these would stop your doctor from prescribing it. In low doses, probably you don't need to worry, though there are other meds your doc could try.
