I, too, am another successful user of Phen/Fen
and I, along with several doctors I know, would gladly take it
again. I am 46 years old & have had only ONE other weight
loss experience that was as successful as my 6 months on Phen/Fen.
Trying to get into a size 9 wedding dress, I spent the 3 months
previous to my wedding day eating less than 800 calories a day,
but only every other day - the other day I ate NOTHING & rode
8-10 miles on a stationary bike! I lost nearly 50 pounds in 6
months on Phen/Fen and this was with ONLY walking 1 or 2 miles
4 times a week and no other exercise or rigid dieting.
I tried it only after seeing 8 other overweight women in my
office lose a significant amount of weight with the drug, as
well as doing my own research, including talking to several
doctors. After the drug was pulled, I tried so very hard to
keep that weight off, including Nutri-system (worked well for
nearly a year, even though the cost was incredible! When my
hair and eyelashes starting falling out, my doctor said to get
off it, as I was starving my body); Body-for-Life (did this
for 6 months and lost a whopping 5 pounds, was tired constantly
from all the exercise required; however I did like learning
weight lifting & still do this); Atkins (for 10 months,
lost 14 pounds; hubby lost 35!!!!); the South Beach Diet (lost
only 10 pounds here); and several other "fad" things
I am embarrassed to list here. I went back to taking Phentermine
by itself (via a weight loss clinic) and dropped 18 pounds -
then stopped. Nothing else changed.
My doctor tried me on a different appetite suppressant (Bontril
- doesn't work as well as Phentermine) & 3 different thyroid
meds; no weight loss. I have faithfully kept up w/my exercise,
including weight lifting & step/bench classes, which may
be the ONLY reason I can still wear a size 14/16, even though
I now weigh 230 lbs.!
Would I take Phen/Fen again? ABSOLUTELY. And if you truly do
your research about this drug, you will find less than .01%
of all the people who took it had the heart problems, some of
which could have already had the symptoms but their doctor missed
it (or they lied about it to get the drug). You have a higher
chance of a bad reaction to a childhood vaccination! But still,
the FDA pulls a drug w/a 99.9% success rate - Why?
