Question: Is It Safe To Take Phentermine And Thyroid Medication?

If a patient is on medication for an underactive thyroid, can they take phentermine?

I was recently prescribed Phentermine by my family doctor and I take Levoxyl for thyroid replacement. My doctor asked me to come into his office once a month for regular blood pressure checks. I suppose this was the only issue he felt important. I was not taking any other medication at that time.

I have been on synthroid for a couple years and my doctor had no problem giving me a prescription for Phentermine. I need to see her monthly for check-ups. So far, I have had no problems with it. The biggest side effect I've experienced is dry mouth.
