Question: Phentermine Makes Me Feel Like I'm On Cocaine. Is It Dangerous To Mix With Prescription Downers?
|
| I've been taking 1-30mg Phentermine capsule daily & 1-50mg Trazadone pill each night for weight loss since about 6/15/99. I've gone from 187-175lbs. I see the doctor each month to renew the supply ($80). Included is one month supply of 15mg Phentermine capsules "in case I feel hungry in the evening".
I read all the disclosures, but here's my question(s): Is there anything wrong with this combo? The doctor said the Trazadone was to keep my body from getting used to the Phentermine. I am 28 and in generally good health, other than the overweightness. But it seems like an upper/downer combo to me.
I used to use cocaine but quit about 8 years ago. With the Phentermine pills, I get the same feeling that I used to get when I used cocaine. Is this just my brain playing tricks with me because I know that the Phentermine pills are stimulants ? Thanks for your opinions.

That is an interesting observation. I took Phentermine for weight loss several years back, and all of my friends thought I was high on cocaine. Since then, I tried cocaine for a short time a few years ago. Anyway, I am now again taking the Phentermine, and once in a while I feel like I want to use cocaine again. I honestly think our brain knows when a strong amphetamine is in our system.

I have been taking Phentermine for approximately two months, and I have a euphoric feeling when I take it. I like how it makes me feel. I have never done any drugs other than amphetamines years ago when doctors dispensed them like candy (70's), but Phentermine feels very much like that. I have lost about 25 lbs and I'm still doing great.

Yes, it can be very addicting. Trazodone won't keep your body from getting used to it. I landed in rehab twice. I found myself very addicted and couldn't stop when I wanted. I still have strong cravings to go back to the Phentermine, but it was a serious DRUG for me. A lot of side effects and consequences.
