Has Anyone Heard Of Plaquenil Being Prescribed To Treat Inflammation Of The Hair Follicles?

My husband was asked to go on Plaquenil for a chronic hair follicle inflammation in his head. The problem arose about a year and a half ago when he hit his head and got an abrasion. This turned into what we were told was a fungal infection. On Lamisil cream and tablet, the head started to clear, but got itchy. The fungal infection continued. My husband was scratching to infection. The Dr. suggested another medication for a few months. My husband was getting dizzy, etc. off that one. He was then just put on a topical solution, not much better. The Dr. now suggested Plaquenil to begin after an eye exam. I don't see where the Plaquenil is even prescribed for the hair follicle inflammation? Has anyone heard of this? Any suggestions?
