Ritalin

Consumer Review: Ritalin, ADHD and ADD Are Part Of A Money-Making Scam That Drove My Friend's Son To Suicide.
I had ADHD, or so I was told, and Ritalin almost killed me like it killed my friend's son. The suicidal thoughts that came on for the first time in my life on that drug finally ended when I stopped taking it. My friend's son is dead and can't be brought back. But his suicide while he was taking the drug was the impetus that got me off of it. And of that, I am grateful and now know how to fight this thing - this scam called ADHD and ADD.

I now know about the lawsuit against Ritalin and how the so called "diseases" ADHD and ADD were entirely invented, made up, by the APA and the drug makers in a neat little money making scheme that has lasted 40 years now. And how they spent MILLIONS to slowly "educate" people about how their normal behavior was really a sickness. I now know about this whole scam that has so many people thinking they are "sick."

It's great to have figured out there is nothing wrong with me in the first place and that chemicals were not the answer, nor was lining the pockets of multi billion dollar drug companies. Sorry, but I am no longer in the group that thinks they are sick because the friendly drug companies say I am...I dug myself out. I only hope that others do too...before it's too late.

I'm very sorry to hear about the loss of your friend's son and that you feel you were misdiagnosed and prescribed ritalin. I certainly can understand your anger. Many times, the medical field is to quick to diagnose a disorder or prescribe treatment. Ritalin is often given too quickly as a cure all, and without proper guidance during treatment. However, to dismiss its value or the fact ADHD and ADD are a real issues, is hurtful to those of us whose lives are made more fulfilling by proper treatment and ritalin.

I have suffered a good portion of my life and also have attempted suicide and battled depression because of my ADHD. I have little or no self control. I was unable to concentrate, finish the smallest and simplest of tasks, and often humiliated myself because of my rash behavior. My self-esteem was crushed. I had so many dreams and talents that were wasted because of my disorder. I felt like a failure to the world. I let family, friends, jobs, and especially myself down time and time again. I felt my life was a joke and I was a waste of air. Since my treatment with ritalin and the supervision of my treatment, I have regained my self-worth and have made many achievements in my career. I will continue to finish my education and fulfill my personal goals. My marriage is better, my home is organized, I have stopped suffering from depression and anxiety attacks as well as insomnia. I look forward to waking each day and knowing I can be the best me.

To feel I'm not a joke and that I'm able to battle this disorder that has held me victim for 27 years gives me the chance to be free. To dismiss ADHD and other disorders that ritalin treats is to hold captive people who validly suffer this disorder and can be helped. ADD is not a disorder made up to sell wonder pills. It is a killer of dreams and self-love. For the first time in my life, I respect myself and my abilities. I know I'm not a loser, just a person that was trapped under a disability.

The only way to prevent horror stories such as the one you lived is to hold the medical community responsible for proper testing and treatment, not to dismiss the validity of the disorder and ritalin. Every time some one says this is a made up disorder and ritalin should be banned, it hurts people whose lives are honestly miserable and hopeless without the support of treatment. The improper treatment of ritalin may have been a factor in the death of your friend and also may have caused you harm. When any treatment is given and is not the proper resource, the side effects can be worse than the illness. Just keep an open mind to those of us who do suffer day in and out. Ritalin helped save my life.

I'm sorry to hear the news about your friend, but you are not well-informed on the topic of ADD and Ritalin. I have ADD myself, and have been taking it with life-changing positive effects and no noticeable side-effects. Your suicidal thoughts and your friend's son's were a result of taking the medication and not actually having ADD. Symptoms of other mental disorders such as depression and anxiety are often misinterpreted as ADD-related. These other conditions are known to be worsened by taking Ritalin, causing these types of thoughts and other negative effects. However, for someone who must cope with actually having ADD, Ritalin is extremely effective. So, you see, your case is not with the producers of Ritalin, or the drug itself, it is with the doctor who incorrectly diagnosed you and your son's friend. It would be a shame to see the government discontinue the controlled distribution of a drug that is so effective in treating a condition that has caused so many problems for so many people.

I too am so sorry to hear about your friend. I know exactly what you are talking about. My 8 year old son has been diagnosed with ADHD. The school has pressured me for years (2) to put him on ritalin, but I refuse. You always hear about the good in things, now it is time to hear the bad, which sometimes people don't want to hear. The truth is that ritalin is nothing more than a form of cocaine. It has opposite effects on children, so that is why the doctors keep prescribing the stuff. It's so the teachers at school can handle 20-25 rowdy kids per day. I know that there is a answer, but I don't think that ritalin is it.

I have been doing a lot of research on phosphatidylserine. This is an all-natural supplement that is extracted from soybeans. It has helped a lot of people in the memory department and in learning also. There are no side effects because it is all-natural. Ritalin has been known to have such severe side effects that children have died from heart attacks and kidney and liver shut down. We need to stop and ask ourselves, do we want to help our children or do we want to medicate our children long enough to get them hooked on something they may or may not be able to control in the future.

This supplement that I speak of has helped my son a lot. It has natural amino acids, for example, that will help the nerotransmitters in your brain regrow and send better signals, so that you are able to do all the normal things again in life without terrible side effects. What I have stated is definitely true and can be looked up on the internet for yourself. That is how I found out more on the subject. Do the research for your self. You know that our children cannot. We are their only life managers that will stand up to these doctors and pharmaceutical companies that have a tendency to write out a prescription even before all things are considered or weighed out. Please find out more. Let us brighten our children's future instead of drugging it up.
