Zoloft

Question: Does Zoloft Cause Hair Loss?
Does Zoloft cause hair loss ? I am 25 and have been on Zoloft for one year and I have noticed my hair thinning and falling out when I brush it for the past 6 months.

I went to this site looking for an answer, as I too have had a significant amount of hair loss. My doctor tested me for thyroid conditions and none were found. His diagnoses was stress. I don't agree, so I've started research to see if it could possibly be a side effect of Zoloft. I have been on it for almost 2 years now.

I too am experiencing hair loss! I casually mentioned to my psychiatrist if he had heard anything about Zoloft and hair loss. Surprisingly, he said yes. The particular antidepressant family to which Zoloft belongs does have hair loss as a side effect. He suggested I see a physician first to check the possibility of my thyroid being the reason. He wanted to rule out any physical causes before ruling out Zoloft. Well, my thyroid is fine. In fact, my physician said it was stress, too. Personally, I don't think so. I don't feel stressed so much to lose this amount of hair!!! So, I wonder, could it actually be the Zoloft? Perhaps it's the amount of Zoloft one takes. I am currently on 100mg. How about those of you out there?
