Zoloft

Consumer Review: Zoloft Side Effects For Me Include Headaches, Weight Gain And An Inability To Reach Orgasm.
Hi,

I've been taking Zoloft for about 7 weeks (25mg first week, 50mg thereafter). I noticed severe headaches, but could not be sure that it was from the medication or some other reason like dehydration for instance. Speaking of dehydration, I have noticed that I'm much more thirsty than I was before going on the drug. After starting Zoloft, I also have an inability to reach orgasm. It's like I'm teetering on the edge of the cliff but never quite making it over. It's very frustrating. Also, sometimes my eyes seem to hurt...well more like they are fatigued. I also noticed that my appetite has greatly increased. Now, I've always enjoyed junk food, but now I feel as if I'm constantly munching on something.

I tried taking Zoloft a few years ago, but stopped after a few weeks due to feeling condemned and embarrassed. I also had the difficulty with climaxing then as well. But one MAJOR difference is that I totally lost weight. I had no appetite (really more a symptom of my depressive episode at the time) and when I did nibble on something, it was awful. I had taste pervasion. It's like it would taste OK one bite but the third bite just turned on me. It wasn't pleasant, but I actually lost about 20lbs and was at my ideal weight. I had no such luck this time. Any ideas for the different reactions?

I don't know how well the drug has helped me yet. I still have a tendency to isolate myself. But I have been taking steps to finish my degree and start working again. Which is something I could not have imagined a while ago when I was balled up on my floor crying...wishing I could just shrink. Well, I'm going to keep at it and pray for the best.

Response #1
Within 12 hours of my first dose, I found that I could not reach orgasm and I would lose erections very quickly. I believe having your "engine revving" with the transmission in "neutral" is more depressing than the symptoms that led my doctor to prescribe Zoloft.
