| Ripped Fuel was taken off the market by the FDA in '98 because quite a few college and high school wrestlers had died while supplementing their workouts with Ripped Fuel. Their teammates, coaches, trainers and anyone that knew them, said that the real reason they died was because they were wearing neoprene sweat suits while exercising in a sauna and being severely dehydrated.
Without taking any supplements, they would have died under these conditions. These athletes already have an extremely low body fat percentage, but they think they must rid their bodies of all intracellular fluids (WATER) to make "weight" to classify in as low a weight class as possible.
After the FDA (which is really just a governmental agency that accepts "donations" from various pharmaceutical and nutritional supplement manufacturers) could find no evidence that Ripped Fuel or ma huang or any other component in Ripped Fuel or other fat burning supplements, was the sole cause of these deaths, they had to allow it to be sold over-the-counter again.
The people that really started the rumors about the danger of herbal ephedra (ma huang) were the pharmaceutical companies that were manufacturing "prescription only" weight loss products. These are the people that a losing butt-loads of money because their potential customers are discovering they can lose weight HEALTHIER by taking OTC supplements than going the a doctor to get a prescription. Would you "blackball" someone that was putting you out of business?
