Ripped Fuel

Consumer Review: After Quitting Ripped Fuel, I Freaked Out In Public And My Heart Rate Went Crazy For Days.
It's your life and your body, so do what you wish with it. However, PLEASE take note of my situation. I am 22 and have been taking Ripped Fuel and similar products of other brands for about two years now. I never took more than the recommended dose or took it for longer than 6-8 weeks at a time. I experienced some of the side effects listed on this site, such as sleeplessness and that jittery, high feeling, but they were never that bad and were tolerable when weighed against positive effects of energy and weight loss.

I am and have been in good shape, and started using the product when recommended by a friend. The energy was great and my six pack never looked better. Every time I would stop taking it for a month or so, I would only notice a little lack of energy and enthusiasm. The last time I quit Ripped Fuel was a completely different story. It all started with a horrible anxiety attack in a public place. At first I thought I was having a heart attack. The next several hours were horrible. I spent them pacing around my house trying to calm down and decide whether to go to the ER or not. The next day was a little better, but by the third day of a racing pulse and anxiety I went to the doctor. My resting heart rate was 120 BPM and my blood pressure was 190/100. This makes it feel like your heart is going to jump out of your chest.

He explained that ephedra works like COCAINE by acting on your alpha's (neurons). He explained ephedra can be stored in the neurons and released when your body doesn't intake any. Yes withdrawal, just like drug addicts! I was put on propranolol, a beta blocker and anti-androgenic. The side effects of this drug are as bad as the withdraw. Now it is a month later and I am slowly being taken off the propranolol and I still feel pretty bad.

Moral of the story: The short term effects aren't worth the price you may pay in the long run. This has been the longest and scariest month of my life and my condition has interrupted and changed my entire lifestyle. It's your body, make sure you know exactly what you are putting in it. Check out what the FDA has to say about Ephedra.
