Question: What Are The Effects Of Silymarin On Chemical And Alcohol Induced Cirrhosis Of The Liver?

| I am curious as to the effects of silymarin on chemical and alcohol induced cirrhosis of the liver? I was able to find very little information on it on my own. There was mention of promising research being done in Hungary and Germany, but that is all I could find. Any thing you could share would be greatly appreciated. Including contra indications.

Mother Jones magazine ran a one-page article a couple of years ago (I don't recall which issue) entitled "Liver Let Live," which referenced Scandinavian studies that pointed to beneficial effects accompanying silymarin use. Other supplements also seem indicated in liver repair--check with health food stores for reference information; also, alternative health practitioners (Chiropractors, DO's, etc.) might have current info.
