St. John's Wort

Consumer Review: I Started Taking Saint John's Wort 2 Weeks Ago And Still Have Mood Swings.
I started taking SJW about 2 weeks ago, put out by Your Life in the 300 MG concentrate, dietary supplement (2 a day). I have not really noticed any change in my mood swings (which come about before, during, and after my menstrual cycle. I still have hope, because I am really not excited by the prospect of taking chemical drugs to make me all better! Sometimes, I get so bitchy I have to take a few deep breaths and say to myself "Who are you lunatic, and what did you do with nice, sweet Jenette!"

I am so tired of feeling like I can't control these shrew-like outbursts (my live-in boyfriend is a saint). I feel like crying sometimes because I know I'm nice, really! So, in the continuing saga to make my life and everyone around me better, I will keep this site updated with my (hopeful) progress with SJW.

I've always read it takes approx. 3 months to know for sure is SJW actually is doing anything good for you. Give it some time. Then, if you don't feel anything different, stop taking it and see if you can tell a difference from WHEN you were taking it.

A clinical therapist told me he finds St. John's Wort effective at dosages of 900 mg per day. How much are you taking? If the St. John's Wort does not work, you might ask your doctor about Prozac. Both work on different neurotransmitters.

Who sponsored this consumer review? No doubt the manufacturers of Prozac, Zoloft and other mainstream anti-depressants would like nothing more than to have a website or two where doubts about the effectiveness of natural alternatives are aired!

I have been using St. John's for my PMS issues and I must say that it's been great. I only use it around those times of depression and hopelessness. I recommend St. John's Wort in the liquid form (alcohol free). It gets in the blood stream and works within 30 minutes. I did have some headaches, however they were minor. St. John's Wort has kept me off Prozac and other prescriptions medications. I would highly recommend this to anyone.
