I posted on here a few weeks ago about my allergic reaction to Glucosamine made from shellfish. I went ahead and tried the vegan form of Glucosamine, made from corn. I took 1/2 of a 1,000mg pill, and within 15 mins began wheezing, feeling faint, very brief panic, then strong nausea for 2 hours. The next day I had an asthma attack and broke out in little bumps all over my forearms. I spoke w/ the physician who works for Cosamin DS and he said I am allergic to the actual glucosamine, and therefore no form of it would be good for me. I think my reaction was so extreme and rapid becuase I had tried to take glucosamine several times before, w/ mild anaphylactic reactions. So, it IS POSSIBLE to be allergic to glucosamine itself, and not necessarily from shellfish. I"m disappointed....but I may try condroiton by itself and see what happens....
