Training Question: What Kind Of Food Is Good For Gaining Weight?
I'm a 21 year old male looking for a proper weight-gaining diet. I am going to start going to the gym and I want to know what kind of food is good for gaining weight. Thank you very much for your time.

Answer #1
To gain quality weight eat meat, especially red meat, like steaks.

Answer #2
Note that you always need a balanced diet (carbs 60%, protein 30% fats 10%, ball park), but to increase muscle size you need food rich in proteins. Generally speaking your daily intake of grams of protein should equal your body weight, if you are tying to gain muscle mass. The best high protein low fat foods that I have found are tuna, chicken, other fish, and low-fat cottage cheese. Red meats have more fat but there are some lean cuts, flank steak, top round, and bottom round among others. 1/2 cup of Low fat cottage cheese mixed with your favorite flavor of low fat yogurt and a side of instant plain oatmeal make a good healthy high protein breakfast, and it's relatively cheap.

Answer #3
I second the above. You should also get in the habit of keeping a food journal. You will be surprised as the correlations between the two. I also suggest upping your meals to five or six. You can do it via supplements or good wholesome food. The key is to stay away from junk food and needless fats.

Answer #4
Beans and potatoes.
