Question: Could Tribulus Worsen The Acne Problem Of A 17 Year Old Male?
|
Hi, I am 17 years old and have been weightlifting off and on for almost three years now. I am about 5 foot 8 inches and 165 pounds and can bench near 260. I have tried several supplements and was considering Tribulus when I heard it could raise testosterone and gains, but in a much safer way than Andro or roids. This is a concern of mine because I have a mild acne problem which I am being treated for and even though I have heard nothing about Tribulus and acne and there will be no possible drug interaction problem, would it be safe and not flare my acne? Thanks very much.

Your testosterone levels are already elevated as you are 17, and tribulus will increase them even further. Although tribulus is herbal, the net effect is still the same as andro, which is elevated testosterone. You've got to be prepared to encounter oilier skin and acne as a result.
Of course, side effects vary greatly from person to person (body chemistry), but if you're already being treated for acne, that suggests to me that you are prone to breakouts and may wish to hold off on any testosterone enhancers.
Also, as you mentioned, there may be a conflict between your acne medication (if hormone suppressing) and tribulus so you should probably consult your physician for concrete facts.
