Consumer Review: I Took Yohimbe, Weight Gain Supplements, And Protein Pills, Watched All My Hard Earned Money Go Down The Drain, And Got Slim/Small Results.
I need something to make me stronger and bigger with as little effort as possible. I am very skinny and small for my size and age. I often feel small compared to others. My wrists and arms are very small as well. I tried a lot of products over the years like: Yohimbe, mass weight gain supplements, protein pills, and so on. It don't seem to make no huge difference. All my hard earned money gone down the drain for some ingredients that gives you a very slim/small difference. I want something that really works! Something that is not a ripoff. Please, can you tell me what works?

Dude just eat a lot of protein, not no protein pills take the powders. Eat 8 meals a day, if you can't eat that much, use meal replacements and protein as replacements instead of food. If you want to pack on mass, you have to go heavy. I don't care what some people say. If you don't go heavy, you don't get stronger. If you don't get stronger, then how do you expect to get bigger? But hey it's your body you decide.

I have to say that I am in exactly the same position as this person when it comes to being small for my age and wanting to gain weight as well as bulk. If this person has gone to the trouble of writing and asking for advice, wouldn't it have been a good idea to write back and explain exactly what he needs to eat in the way of protein based foods or at least give some examples?

You are in a position of knowledge. So, instead of playing the "cool dude" guy how about some practical advice? 'What are' the best protein based foods? You say "use meal replacements and protein replacements....", give us some names, brands etc. Make it easy..... "Not no protein pills, take the powders..", What powders? Are all powders on the market good and reputable? Again, lend us some knowledge here.

I've been looking through the internet desperately to find some answers concerning weight gain and when I read this question from this person I thought now I've hit on a winner. Finally, someone is going to give some clear and thorough advice. For all us less weighty persons out there, could we please have your answer again and this time spell it out, make it clearer?

Don't just eat, eat well, lots of protein. That is the surest way to gain muscle mass. You can workout all you want, but if your body isn't getting the right ingredients, you won't see substantial gains. Things like pasta, tuna, eggs, chicken, and lean red meat are all very good as well as a whey protein shakes.

Don't take all of those supplements. You don't need them all. If you are a beginner, stick with creatine. I would recommend Power Creatine by Champion Nutrition in powder form. Take it with grape juice or some other fruit juice for better absorption. Also, you don't really need to load up since your body produces it naturally. Don't buy from GNC. They are too expensive. Buy through mail order. The prices are much better.

Good luck!!

I've been weight training constantly for more than 10 years now and started out just the same as you. Small, the littlest guy in school, the one who always got teased for his tiny size in the locker-rooms. Right up until I was 20 years old, I only weighed about 120 pounds! But one thing I had over those bigger guys (besides a sense of humour that kept me out of trouble!) was a determination and belief that if I wanted something bad enough, I could probably get it. Sure, I wasn't genetically blessed like the bigger guys, but I knew I could eat 3-4 hot dogs, a hamburger or two and all the candy I wanted, and not put on an ounce of fat! In fact, I could (and can) basically eat anything I want and not have to worry about a spare tire coming on! Do you know how much people will envy you that in a few years time??! Our greyhound like metabolisms are the biggest growth factor we have going for us and let me tell you: by the time you reach my age (33), you'll thank the powers that be for that precious gift!! What you have to do is realise your lucky and harness that gift!

I now weigh just on 155 pounds and all of that is solid muscle. I have ripped arms, rock-like pecs, solid vascular legs and can't wait to get to the beach each Summer to take the shirt off. I don't have a spare tire, I don't look like ANY of my overweight executive friends and every time I play some sport with them, they are constantly amazed at how I've kept my condition. They take one look at my three-part, defined triceps and just shake their heads. Do you know how hard THEY would have to work to get that definition?! So hard it's now beyond most of them...they just don't have the willpower (or the time, or the...excuse, excuse, excuse). Genetically, their bodies are telling them to lay down and die. Me, I'm just beginning!

So my advice is: don't feel bad, you have a powerful genetic ally on your side, YOU!. Make a decision that you want to get bigger and fitter. Decide what you want to do (gym, aerobics, sports? - pick something you LOVE, like I LOVE free weights) and START IT, NOW! Yes, if you need a supplement, take creatine or something cheap that will give you the psychological edge (and something to talk to other gym guys about). DON'T treat it like a contest. This is about your body and how YOU feel. Let other guys get bigger, that's OK. There will always be somebody bigger and stronger than you, always. Just worry about how YOU feel about yourself. And the secret is DOING what you choose to do and to keep on doing it! Ten years on I am living proof of the fantastic results.

I wish you the very best of luck (and phone that sports club now!!).

Regards,
Jon S.

See this is what gets me about people. They say they want to get bigger or stronger or whatever, and then they want it to happen without putting any effort into it. Bro, the same goes for everything in life but of all things it ESPECIALLY goes for weightlifting - you get what you put into it. Go to the gym and take a look at the guys working out there. Look at who's lifting hard and who's just dicking around with a 10lb dumbbell not even putting the slightest bit of energy into it. You'll notice that the guys who lift hard and heavy consistently look better than the guys who don't. Get with the program.

What you need to to is eat tons of good food (whole milk, eggs, fish, chicken, rice, pasta) and lift hard and heavy.

What the hell? You want to get bigger and not have to work hard? That's the most B.S. I ever heard. The only way you're gonna get bigger is to pump free weights and eats tons of food, and stop complaining if you don't want to work at it.

Uh, lift weights. Powders do nothing but get you fat if you sit on your ass.

What are all of you crazed mass-hungry people looting about? First of all, your body can only use so much protein and then it has to work overtime to get rid of the extra. Take 1 designer protein shake a day and eat as many different vegetables and lean meats as possible. If you lacked a good wholesome meal that day, take an extra protein shake. Start to eat and live on what your body asks for, not some ridiculous body-mass weight-gainer crap.

If you want a ripped body that fits your own unique body structure, buy a bike, running shoes, and some swim trunks and become a true athlete, not some generic "body builder." Lift weights to enhance your athletic ability. Trust me on this, you'll feel and look better than you ever expected. I have 3% body fat, weigh 175 lbs., and am 6 ft. tall. I do primarily endurance training and can outlift most guys my age, 22, that weigh over 200 lbs. and work out 4 to 5 times a week. Follow this regimen and you'll love yourself.

Hey buddy, all you have to do is weight train. When you do, you should do four sets of six reps on the body part you want to get larger. Use as heavy weight as you can and still be able to get all four sets. Yes, eat protein, but as far as all of the hype on pills and power, that's all BS. Save your money and whatever you do, don't believe what all of those books and magazines tell you that's a different story every month. Just train hard and regular, that's the key, and you will get results. Good luck, don't give up.

My story tops all this BS. At 17, I joined the military out of high school weighing 140 lbs. Now I'm 36 and weighing 225 lbs with 11% body fat. I love the way I look because I worked at it faithfully. Eating those supplements is like putting money in the shredder. What you need to do is eat store-bought proteins, i.e., any variety of fish, egg whites, peanut butter. These types of proteins are very good for you and they cost very little (catch your fish). A lot of carbohydrates wont hurt either. For a workout routine, 3 on and 1 off. Free weights with a max rep of no more than 12 and no less than 10. You want to feel the burn. Try this for 3 months solid and discuss the results on this page. PEACE.
